The dogs of this breed are very active and powerful. The breed was designed specially to accompany hunters and find and retrieve the killed game both on water and land. These dogs have excellent working instincts and a very keen sense of smell. These dogs grow to be 60-80 pounds in weight and stand 20-24 inches at the withers; females are a little smaller than males. This breed is not for everyone, because it needs very active owners who are able to train the dog regularly.
